Watercolours and Ink
One of the first cats I ever adopted was a black smoke colour. Smoked cats are produced by colour inhibiting genes and is when a seemingly solid coloured cat actually has banded hairs. This means that the cat’s hairs are dark (usually black) at the tips but have much lighter coloured bands near the bottom. When the cat’s hair is parted, you’re able to see the unique smokey-looking colour. I would occasionally take my black smoke cat to the groomers for a lion clip, when he would come back the dogs would bark at him because they didn’t recognize his new grey colour!
